I lost the caps to not one, but two empty spice bottles this week. I was bummed, because Ada loves practicing with screw-on caps, and it keeps her engrossed for half an hour at a time. But then I realized that I also had not one, but two very pretty wine corks that I’d been saving for a purpose somewhat grander than most of the cork projects out there. They just fit in the mouth of the bottles.
They look nice when clustered in groups of different sizes, as well. Dress them up with washi tape or colorful string if you want, but I like to let the corks speak for themselves.
Hello friend! It’s been a while, but I’m back with a sweet new tutorial. We’ll be making some teensy beeswax candles and using vintage wooden spools as candle holders. This size of candle is perfect for birthdays, and the spools are a cute alternative for holding them if you’re a cake-free household. They burn for about twenty minutes–just long enough to enjoy their warm light and sweet scent before you take a deep breath and blow them out.
Yeah, you know you’re excited. Click through for the step-by-step!
Dark were the days when I used a pencil case to hold my extra diapers! Once I finally got fed up with messing with a zipper and trying to squeeze more than one nappy into the silly thing, I went looking for diaper wallet/envelope patterns, only to find precious few that could be operated one-handed. So I made up my own!
And I have good news for the tutorial-averse out there–this is just about the quickest thing you will ever make. I created the prototype in the span of five minutes before we went on our daily walk. Setting up my lights for taking photos took longer than making the thing itself. It’s basically a tiny pillow sham, only instead of sleeping on it, you stuff it with things your kid will poop on. Sounds like fun, right? Let’s get to it.
I spent yesterday dyeing wool for the next batch of my punctuation patches. Wilton’s cake dye is the absolute best. From left to right: licorice, blackberry jam, merlot, and dandelion.
When my kitchen isn’t a complete disaster area, I’ll post a tutorial.
I’ve just gone to the engraving place to pick up my brand new address stamp. I feel so official now! If you purchase something from my Etsy from now on, it will arrive in an envelope sporting this stylish imprint.
